Jar and can openers: what the manufacturers document
If turning a lid is the hard part, compare the power source and the lid size range first; if cutting a can is the hard part, compare the controls and how the lid comes off. This table puts the manufacturer-documented specs for each opener side by side so you can check the one fact that matters for your containers.
Every value comes from the manufacturer's own product page, linked in the row. We have not measured or tested these openers, and the table is not a ranking. Opening guides on this site contain affiliate links; this page does not. How we research our guides.
What to compare
- Power: battery count and type, or none for manual tools. Battery tools still need you to seat the jar or can.
- Size range: the lid or can sizes the manufacturer states. Measure two or three lids you open often.
- Controls: one button, press-and-hold, or lever. Match the motion to what your hand can repeat.

Openers not in the table
These openers appear in our guides, but their manufacturer pages do not yet document enough specs for a fair side-by-side row: Kitchen Mama Auto Electric Can Opener, Robo Twist Original Electric Jar Opener, EZ Off Under-Cabinet Jar Opener, OXO Good Grips Jar Opener with Non-Slip Base Pad, KITCHENMUH Electric Jar Opener, OXO Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener. They are not ranked lower; they are simply not compared here.

Why are only some openers in the table?
A row appears only when the manufacturer's own page documents at least two of power, size range, controls, weight or dimensions for that exact model. Openers without that documentation are listed separately and are not compared.
Does this table rank the openers?
No. Rows are sorted alphabetically. The table shows what each manufacturer states; it does not measure grip force, opening success or comfort.
Is a jar opener the same as a can opener?
No. Jar openers turn or release screw lids; can openers cut a can lid. Check the size range and controls of the exact model against the containers you open most.
